Boston Dynamics, a leading developer of high mobility robots, and the maker of Atlas, Spot, Handle, and other innovative walking machines, seeks talented mechanical engineers to help create the next generation of astounding and practical mobile robots.
We are currently looking for great mechanical engineers who are passionate about robotics, iterative design, and prototyping. Successful candidates would join a team devoted to producing extremely high-quality hardware, and a research culture that embraces collaboration.
Day to day activities:
Collaborate with other engineers to dream up, design, and develop prototype robots to achieve design targets
Develop new concepts and analyze trade-offs in design while evaluating constraints from multiple disciplines (electrical design, manufacturing, business needs)
Create CAD models, drawings, and specifications for parts and assemblies
Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, design and implement corrective and preventative solutions.
Advanced CATIA/SolidWorks user, or equivalent
At least a BSME
Trade studies and system design/analysis
Finite element analysis, design optimization
Electro-mechanical actuators and sensors
Articulated mechanism design
Transitioning early designs to products [NPI, EVT, DVT]
Mass production of complex electromechanical assemblies [DFM, DFA]
Contributed to the creation of articulated mechanisms using custom join design, actuation, and sensing.
